It has been an exciting and fulfilling year at CTUK with a number of great events and tours. We have been privileged to meet some great people and we look forward to an eventful year in 2015.
Graham has created his own company Brightside IC which specialises in indoor cycling training using computrainers and a very knowledgeable team of personal trainers.
The year kicked off with the Thistle Hotel Triathlon Challenge at Lea Park. This was a relay event and CTUK provided the computrainers for the cycling leg. It created a fun event with all participants able to cheer on their team members as they cycled the 5km course.
The now annual Lainston House Sportive was successfully run on Easter Monday. Apart from the great cycling all participants enjoyed the après-event bar-b-que in the Lainston House grounds. The setting in the hotel grounds is amazing and we are really looking forward to building this event again in 2015.
The Hotelympia 10K was run again this year at the Excel building in London. This event is organised on behalf of the very worthy Springboard charity and the 600 or so runners all enjoyed their day out. CTUK helped with the annual Winchester Pedal Paddle Pace (PPP) again which drew a record number of close to 500 participants. This event now generates over £25000 every year for Macmillans Cancer Support and is becoming a must do event in the Winchester calendar.
CTUK helped plan and support the second annual Thistle Hotel Lite@Nite Charity event. This involved cycling between all the Thistle Hotels from Inverness to London a distance of some 1500 miles. Over 300 Thistle employees participated and it was great to see every level of cyclist from beginner to experienced out there doing their bit. If ever there was a way to visit all parts of the UK on a bike then this is the event.
We have enjoyed hosting guests on our tours from all parts of the globe and showing them around our beautiful countryside. The weather was reasonably kind on most days so that was a bonus.
So looking ahead to 2015, we are introducing the exciting new Exclusive Hotel Sportive Series with a Sportive at Lainston House on Monday April 6th, South Lodge Hotel on Monday May 4th and finishing with Manor House Hotel in Castle Coombe on Sunday May 31st. Watch for details on the website.
We are also hoping to create some cycling tours around the World Cup rugby later in the year. So all of you interested in combining some rugby watching with some cycling watch this space.
May we offer all our supporters our very best wishes for the coming festive season and hopefully we will see you at one of our events in 2015.
