For businesses looking for a novel, fun way to engage their staff and build team spirit, Cycle Tours UK has created a unique day’s activity.
Start your day in the beautiful surrounds of Lainston House Hotel, (www.lainstonhouse.com), where Chris Dawson will lead an interactive presentation on leadership and team building, drawing upon his years of engineering experience working on international projects. He will explain how simple management theory can be applied to the art of team cycling.
After breakfast, Chris will lead you on a short 45 minute (15km) cycle ride to the specially designed 5km time trial course in the beautiful Test Valley, where the theory can be put into practice.
Each team member will be timed individually and then teams formed, based upon aggregate times. Time will be devoted to training team members in the techniques of team cycling. Successful teams will need to nurture the less proficient members through effective communications and leadership.
At the end of the day, teams will cycle back to Lainston House for a review of the day over a delicious afternoon tea. Awards for the best individual performance, best team performance and most improved individual performance will be presented.
Participants only need to bring suitable clothing for cycling, including shorts, shirt and trainers (or cleats). Cycle Tours UK supplies all the cycling equipment including bikes, helmets and rain jackets (for the occasional shower). The bikes are equipped with dual purpose pedals with Shimano SPD cleats and flat so you can clip in or wear trainers.
